Arrival and Departure:-
Preparing for Arrival:
Does every driver have to be there on pick up of the campervan?
Yes. Each driver needs to present their physical, full, valid driver’s license upon collection of the campervan (photo copies are not accepted) and all drivers are required to sign the rental agreement.

What time should we arrive to collect our campervan?
Your campervan can only be collected within the branch operating hours. Please be there no later than an hour before closing time.

Please ensure you allow plenty of time at the branch for the pick-up process. We want to give each guest the space to ask any questions they may have to ensure they can get on the road safely, and with confidence. We find some guests need more time than you’d expect to pick-up a camper, as there a few more things to run through than with a usual car hire. Please ensure you allow enough time  so we can show you everything you need to know and make sure you have an awesome roadtrip.

What should I expect on arrival?
In branch and collecting your camper
When you arrive, make your way to the check-in counter. Have your physical driver's license and credit card at the ready to enable us to handle your booking.

In NZ, you will also be required to fill out this safe driving questionnaire before you leave the branch. This questionnaire is designed to help you familiarise yourself with New Zealand's road rules. It means you’ll be well-prepared to make the most of your roadtrip and enjoy the best of New Zealand.

If there are any extra hire items you have decided to add to your booking, you can do so at this time.

A member of our crew will then take you to your camper. This will give you the chance to have a good look around and ask your Branch Host any questions you have before hitting the road. We want to give each guest the space to ask any questions they may have to ensure they can get on the road safely, and with confidence. We find some guests need more time than you’d expect to pick-up a camper, as there a few more things to run through than with a usual car hire. Please ensure you allow enough time at pick-up so we can show you everything you need to know and make sure you have an awesome roadtrip.

You can also re-watch our show-through videos in the thl Roadtrip App whenever you need to. There are also a bunch of 'CamperHelp how-to’ videos, showing you how to use different features of your camper. From plugging into power, to emptying the toilet cassette, setting up the dining tables and making the beds - you'll be a pro in no time!
Pack your belongings into the camper and hit the road! Remember, don't drive too far on your first day and make sure you have a campsite booked at a holiday park to plug into power, fully charge your battery and settle into your camper.

If our flight arrives late, can I pick up after hours?
Unfortunately, we do not have the option for early or late pick-ups after hours. If your flight arrives later than expected, we recommend you stay in a hotel nearby that night and come in when the branch opens the next morning (no refunds apply for late pick-ups). Please call us to let us know if you will be collecting your camper the next day, so we know to still expect you.

Can we leave/collect our campervan at the airport or can you deliver it?
Campervans must be collected from and returned to the branch confirmed for your booking.

In New Zealand, our branches in Auckland, Christchurch and Queenstown are conveniently located near the airports, where we offer shuttle transfers to and from the branch.

Travel rules for New Zealand:
The New Zealand Government has introduced a new travel requirement for some visitors and transit passengers. It’s called the NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority) and travellers need to request theirs via the official mobile app or website. Approval can take up to 72 hours, so get yours before you go.

The NZeTA is required for travel from 1 October 2019.

Visit immigration.govt.nz/nzeta to find out if you need one.

Before you Return:-
When do I need to return my campervan?
It’s really important that you return your campervan at your confirmed branch and drop-off time. Please refer to your rental agreement. If you want to change this time whilst still travelling you will need to get in touch with our Booking Hosts.

Do I have to return my campervan with a full gas bottle and fuel tank?
You must make sure your fuel tank and LPG bottle is full before you return your campervan. The fuel gauge must register as full and you must leave a receipt for the LPG bottle in the front seat showing that it has been filled within the last 24 hours. Additional charges will apply if this hasn’t been done. If you have prepaid your fuel [PPF] and LPG [PGO], or purchased the Refuelling Pack, then don’t worry - just bring everything back empty!

Do I have to empty the waste water and toilet cassette?
Yes. Please ensure that your waste water tank and toilet cassette are emptied at an authorised dump point prior to returning your campervan. You can find your closest one on the thl Roadtrip App. If you are staying at a Holiday Park or campground you will have access to a dump station there.

If you would prefer that we empty the toilet cassette and waste water tank for you on drop-off (selected branches):

You can add this to your booking at any stage before drop-off. Just give us a call.

Can we return our campervan before the branch opens?
Vehicles must be returned to the branch during branch operating hours.
We request that guests collect or return their vehicle by 4.00pm at the latest.

What do we need to do prior to returning our vehicle?
Please ensure that rubbish is thrown away, the floor has been swept and that your campervan does look tidy before you return it. If it’s not returned in a respectable condition we may charge you a cleaning fee.

Please remember that smoking in your campervan is not permitted and that a cleaning fee may apply to any smoking related cleaning.

For maui vehicles, pets are not permitted in your campervan and so a cleaning fee may apply to any animal related cleaning.

What do we do with our extra hire items?
Please leave any extra hire items on the front passenger seat of your campervan so that we know you have returned them safe and sound. Chairs and table should be left inside your campervan (at the rear of the vehicle).

Where to Stay:
Do I need to stay at campground/holiday park?
Provided the campervan you have rented has built-in toilet facilities and fresh water/grey water tanks on board you are allowed to 'freedom camp' in designated sites. Please obey local signage and regulations, and ask at local information centres [look for blue i-SITE signs or visitor information signs in each town] for suitable places to stay. Please do be aware that you may be fined for 'freedom camping' in non-designated areas.

To fully charge your campervan's auxiliary [house] battery you will need to plug the vehicle into 240V mains power regularly.  We recommend you stay in holidays parks to charge the battery at a minimum every second night.

We recommend downloading the thl Roadtrip app for android or iPhone - you'll get up to date information on where to stay, places of interest on the road, as well as helpful locations such as public bathrooms, dump stations & supermarkets.

How long can I 'freedom camp' for?
If you plan on freedom camping, your camper needs to be Certified Self Contained. How long you freedom camp depends on what facilities you wish to use in your campervan. The more equipment you use the quicker you will use the available charge on your house battery. To prolong your freedom camping experience, try to keep the fridge closed as much as possible. A good tip is to keep the fridge filled, even by using recycled bottles filled with water, and turning the fridge to a lower setting. Parking the vehicle in the shade can also reduce power consumption.

We recommend plugging in and recharging your house battery every second night at a powered site to maintain the lights, fridge and water pump.

Why do I need to go to a campsite?
Campsites offer facilities to empty your waste water and toilet cassette, and many also offer laundry facilities to refresh your towels and sheets.

To fully charge your campervan's auxiliary [house] battery you will need to plug the vehicle into 240V mains power regularly.  We recommend you stay in holidays parks to charge the battery at a minimum every second night.

Do we have to book campgrounds in advance of our arrival?
If you are travelling during peak periods such as school holidays, public holidays and long weekends, it is best to book your campground in advance to avoid disappointment. You can search for and book campsites and holiday parks through the thl Roadtrip App.

Dump Stations:-
How often should we dump our waste?
When it comes to the disposing of your waste , it is vital to ensure this is done in a safe and environmentally friendly way. We recommend you dump your black water (contents from the toilet cassette) and the grey water (water from the shower and sink) every 2 or 3 days, or every opportunity that you get.

Most holiday parks have dump stations available to their guests.

You can also search for your closest dump station within the thl Roadtrip App

Ferries in New Zealand:-
Do I need to book a ferry crossing in New Zealand?
As New Zealand is made up of two main islands, it will be necessary for you to book a ferry crossing if you are travelling from the North to South Island or vice versa. It’s super convenient, all you have to do is drive on, enjoy the scenic cruise and then drive off. Ferry crossings take approximately three hours with several sailings each day.

This will actually give you an enjoyable break from driving - it's a spectacular ferry crossing between Wellington in the North Island and Picton in the South Island. In fact, you are bound to see some scenic highlights along the way - Wine Spectator magazine calls it "one of the most beautiful ferry rides in the world". Lap up the views from the ferry decks of the beautiful Wellington Harbour, the rugged North Island coastline, and the aquamarine Cook Strait and stunning Marlborough Sounds. You can even have a meal or keep the kids entertained with new release movies if needs be. The Club Class lounge is an option if you feel like treating yourself to a private lounge with couch seating, complimentary newspapers, magazines and refreshments.

It's best to check-in around 60 minutes prior to departure when you're crossing with a campervan. We can take care of your ferry booking once you have decided what day and time will suit you best. If you're wondering how much the ferries in New Zealand cost, this will depend on the length of your campervan or motorhome.

We recommend that you book well ahead of your holiday, especially if you are travelling during the November to March summer season or over busy events. Please contact our Booking Hosts if you wish to book your ferry crossing.

Toll roads:-
Toll roads in New Zealand
You will likely encounter toll roads if you are driving in the North Island. A toll is charged each time the road is used.

When driving a thl rental vehicle in New Zealand you are responsible for paying toll fees, so it is important to be aware of these roads and how to pay your toll (eg. online or via a toll kiosk) before you travel.

Your Branch Host can help you purchase a toll pass. Should thl receive a notice about an unpaid toll, the toll charge and an administration fee per toll will be passed on to you. Click here for more information, including toll road locations.

Vehicle information:-
Safety & Driving:
Do I need a special driver's licence to drive in New Zealand?
A current and full motor vehicle driver licence is required to be shown at pick-up and the driver needs to be present. If the driver licence is not in English then we require an accredited English translation or an International Driver Permit.

Mighty Campers (Highball and Double Down) and MightyLITE (HiLITE and DeLITE) drivers must be 18 years of age or over with a full driver licence.

For all other RV types drivers must be 21 years of age or over with a full driver licence and the licence must be valid for the entire booking duration.

Can a child seat or booster seat be fitted to the vehicle in New Zealand?
Yes. Child seats and booster seats can be fitted to some of our campers and they can only be fitted to the forward-facing seats in the rear (behind the driver). Child and booster seats cannot be fitted to the front passenger seat or rear-facing vehicle seat in any of our vehicles. Child restraints must be pre-booked.
All children aged seven years and under must travel in an approved child restraint. The type of restraint required for your child depends on their age and size. Guests must refer to the child restraint instruction manual for the appropriate child restraint.

For more information on Child Restraints please click below to read our guidelines:

For travel from 01 April 2026 until 31 March 2027
Child and booster seats used in New Zealand must comply with the Australia/New Zealand standard (AS/NZS 1754), the American standard FMVSS 213 that also shows the New Zealand Standard ‘S’ mark or the European standard ECE 44 or ECE 129 shown by “E”. It is the responsibility of the guest to fit the seat in the vehicle.

Can we bring our own child seat or booster seat when we hire a campervan in New Zealand?
Yes, however the child or booster seat must have one of the following approved standards:

the American standard FMVSS 213. The restraint must also show the New Zealand Standard ‘S’ mark.
the European standard ECE 44 or ECE 129 shown by “E” followed by a number depicting the European country.

Are there restrictions on where we can drive the campervan in New Zealand?
Not all RVs are suitable for all driving situations, so it’s important the right RV is chosen for the travel planned. thl, at its discretion, may restrict RV travel in certain areas due to adverse road or weather conditions, and the distance to nominated destinations in relation to the length of the rental period. If applicable, any further restrictions will be mentioned at pick-up. Guests are encouraged to contact On-Road Assist on 0800 788 558 if they have any concerns regarding road accessibility.
For the safety of guests, the following travel restrictions are in place:
All RVs can only be driven on sealed/bitumen roads. The only exception to this is well-maintained access roads less than 12 kilometres long which lead to recognised commercial campgrounds and major tourist attraction or loose road surface on any major ski field access roads or any recognised campground access road less than 12 kilometres in length.
No RV shall be driven on:
All ski field access roads from 01 June to 31 October
Skippers Road (Queenstown)
The Crown Range Road/Cardrona Valley Road
Ninety Mile Beach (Northland)
Wanaka – Mt Aspiring Road beyond exit to Treble Cone
Ball Hut Road (Mt. Cook) and
North of Colville and Waikawau Township (Coromandel Peninsula).

Guests who travel to restricted areas without permission may void the liability option in the event of damage or accident.

Can you restrict where the campervan can go due to certain conditions?
We value your well being, and for safety purposes, we reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to restrict vehicle movements in certain areas due to:
adverse road or weather conditions;
the distance to nominated destinations in relation to the length of the hire period; and
any concerns we, our employees or agents may have regarding driver experience or ability.
We will advise you on pick-up of any travel restrictions known at that time.

Are there speed restrictions on my campervan?
You must drive within the posted speed limits and to the conditions. The maximum speed limit in Australia is 110km. Vehicles must not exceed this speed limit.

In New Zealand, the maximum speed limit for our campers is either 90km/h or 100km/h depending on the model hired. There is a sticker on the windscreen advising the maximum speed allowed. Vehicles must not exceed this speed limit.

Where do babies / infants sleep in the campervan?
Unfortunately most portable cots do not fit in our vehicles. We recommend children sleep in the lower dinette-converted beds. Our vehicles are not fitted with child safety barriers for top bunk / overhead beds.

How old do I need to be to drive and is there a maximum age?
Drivers must be 21 years of age or over. However, if the rented vehicle is a Mighty Highball, Mighty Double Down, Cheapa Hitop, Cheapa Endeavour, Hippie Hitop, Hippie Endeavour, MightyLITE HiLITE, or MightyLITE DeLITE then drivers must be 18 years of age or over with a full and current driver's licence.
There is no maximum age as long as you have a valid driver's licence.

Can I fit a portable cot in the camper?
Most portable cots do not fit in our vehicle. We recommend children sleep in the lower dinette-converted beds. Our vehicles are not fitted with child safety barriers for top bunk / overhead beds.

What is the maximum speed I can drive with snow chains on in New Zealand?
The maximum speed you can drive with snow chains on is 20km/hr.

How often do I need to check my snow chains once fitted?
After driving 50 metres you will need to check your snow chains are still fitted correctly.  If the snow chains are ok, continue to drive at a maximum of 20km/hr.  If they are not ok, re-adjust the snow chains or contact On-Road Assist on 0800 788 558

Where should I not use my snow chains?
You should not use your snow chains on any sealed or gravel roads that are not covered in snow or ice. As soon as there is no snow on the road, the snow chains must be removed to prevent damaging the tyre.

Who do I call if I need help fitting my snow chains?
Please call the 0800 number provided on your key ring and our friendly on road team will assist you. Alternatively there are videos in the thl Roadtrip App on how to fit Quick Fit Chains and how to fit Ladder Chains.

What is the cost if I damage the vehicle due to incorrectly fitting the snow chains?
Damage costs start from NZ$150 for the replacement of damaged snow chains and NZ$600 per damaged wheel arch.

Where would I find snow chains in my vehicle?
Snow Chains are available for hire for an additional fee. If you purchase the Value Pack or the Platinum Pack they are included in your hire and will be stored in the external storage locker.

How can I check the New Zealand weather conditions and road closures/openings
You can call 0800 4 Highways (0800 444449) or check online at www.nzta.govt.nz/traffic

New Zealand - https://thl.widen.net/s/nrlqbxcfw7/nz_living-equipment_2627

Will my campervan have a tow-bar?
No, our campervans are not equipped with tow-bars.

Will my campervan have a power socket?
There are 240V power sockets inside your campervan. Please note that these will only operate when the vehicle has been connected to an external power source like a holiday park. Because the vehicle has a larger earth pin, you will not be able to plug into a domestic power outlet.

Will my campervan have wheelchair access?
Unfortunately, our campervans and motorhomes are not equipped with wheelchair access. Additionally, the interior space is quite limited, and therefore does not accommodate a wheelchair.

Can we rent a generator or bring our own?
No, as we do not allow generators to be used with our vehicles.

Will my campervan come supplied with tea and coffee?
Unfortunately, we do not provide any food or drink with your campervan.
After you've picked up your camper, we recommend you head to the closest supermarket (you can search for this in the thl Roadtrip App) and stock up on your groceries then, once you've seen the camper and have assessed the cupboard storage and fridge size available to you.

Do I need to bring my own bedding?
Not at all!
We supply sheets, pillows with pillow cases, duvet and duvet cover (or comforter) for each bed, as well as bath towels. Additional bedding can be collected and additional duvet and cover may be added to your extra hire items at a nominal cost.

Can we bring our pet with us on holiday?
If you are travelling in a Britz, Apollo, Mighty, or MightyLITE campervan you can bring up to two well-behaved, registered dogs or cats on holiday. A pet service fee of $325 will apply.
Pets must have been treated for fleas and be controllable. We recommend that you plan ahead, checking that dogs are permitted at your intended destinations and campgrounds in advance. At pick-up and drop-off, we appreciate you ensuring that your pet is secure on a lead and is supervised by an adult outside of our branch. Please check that your furry friends are clean and dry before entering the campervan and don't leave your pet unattended in the vehicle. While travelling, you must safely restrain your pets in the rear of the vehicle, avoiding the possibility of distracting the driver.

Will my New Zealand campervan have air-conditioning?
No, our New Zealand campers do not feature house air-conditioning. They do have air-conditioning in the driver's cab.

How does the diesel heating work in New Zealand?
There needs to be a minimum of 11.5 volts on your auxiliary [house] battery for ignition and more than a quarter tank of diesel in your fuel tank. Turn the dial to full for 5 minutes before resetting to a moderate temperature. Generally, it will take 1 litre of diesel to heat your motorhome for 4 hours, to a moderate temperature.
You can watch our CamperHelp How To video on Diesel Heating here or through the thl Roadtrip App in the On The Road section.
If you have any problems please contact our On Road Assist team on phone 0800 788 558 (you will need a local sim to be able to contact us on this number).
Please note that costs arising from damage and soiling caused by pets is not covered by the liability reduction option. These costs are the responsibility of the hirer.
If you are travelling in a maui motorhome animals are not permitted, with the exception of registered guide dogs, and permission needs to be arranged prior to rental. If an animal is allowed in your campervan additional fees may be applied to deep clean the interior.

How long will the gas bottle last?
Gas bottle sizes and gas operated equipment differs with different campervans. Campervans with gas operated cooking, heating and water systems will use gas quicker than campervans with only gas cooking.
If you run out of gas, you can refill the LPG bottle at many outdoor camping stores. Alternatively, if in NZ you can use the Swap 'n' Go service at many service stations. You can search for the closest LPG Bottle Filling or Swapping station in the thl Roadtrip App.
If you have Pre Purchased Gas or the Re-Fuelling Pack then you don't need to return your campervan with a full gas bottle.

How many towels are included in the campervan?
We provide one bath towel per person. All campers also come with a tea towel as part of the kitchen general living equipment.

There are seven of us but one is a baby, can we book a 6 berth?
No. There are only 6 seat belts fitted in a six berth. Each person, including babies and children, by law, must have their own seatbelt. Children need to be restrained in an approved child or booster seat.

Can we plug the camper into a normal house power outlet?
No. Homes in Australia and New Zealand feature 10amp power sockets. Our campervans and motorhomes feature 15amp power connection, which has a larger earth pin at the bottom and cannot be plugged in to a 10amp socket. Campgrounds and Holiday Parks all have 15amp power connection, so you need to book a campsite to plug into power there.

How much tread depth should vehicle tyres have?
Vehicles under 4.5 tonne gross vehicle mass are legally required to have at least 1.5mm of tread remaining in all the principal grooves (i.e. the wide main grooves in the centre part of the tread).
These grooves have tread wear indicators in them and the tyre should not be worn so much that the tread wear indicators contact the road.
Our company minimum allowed tread depth is 3mm at pick-up; double the legal limit.
Other countries have very similar minimum tread depth requirements. 1.5mm or 1.6mm is well accepted globally as the minimum allowable tread depth for passenger and van tyres.

How long will my house [auxiliary] battery last?
The speed of the 12 volt battery drainage will depend on the climate and how often it is used.  The 12V house battery supplies power to the fridge, house lights, water pump, water heater, stove ignition for electric hobs and USB ports, if fitted. It also supplies power to the LCD screen, DVD player, rangehood and toilet flush system for campers that have them.
Some of our vehicles have solar panel backup, which helps restore the living area battery when parked, but can’t keep up if everything is operating.
Although the house battery receives a trickle charge while driving, it is not sufficient to fully charge it. It is important that you book into a campground on your first night so you can plug into 240 volt power to fully charge your house battery. Then plug into a 240 volt campsite every two or so nights, for around 14 to 16 hours to fully charge the house battery and avoid it getting too low. Remember, the harder your battery works, the quicker it will drain. So, turn off any appliances you aren’t using.
The house battery is a deep cycle battery, separate to the vehicle engine battery. So, if you flatten the battery completely in the living area it will not affect the driving battery, however you will need to plug the vehicle into 240V mains power for the battery to fully recharge.

What works when not connected to a 240V power supply?
When the 12V auxiliary (house) battery has a healthy charge [11-14V] the following equipment will operate:
fridge
house lights
water pump
house radio/stereo if fitted
toilet flush
rangehood
house USB ports
along with the ignition for the water heater, diesel heater and electric hob for campers where fitted.
The following require a 240V power connection to operate:
electric jug
toaster
microwave
240V electric sockets
reverse cycle air conditioner for campers in AU that feature it

What is the storage capacity in my campervan?
All vehicles have storage compartments; be it overhead cupboards, under seat storage or external lockers. We suggest that you travel with soft bags instead of suitcases as they fit better into the storage compartments. There is no room to store large hard cases.

Do I need to bring a plug adaptor?
The vehicles are equipped with AU/NZ electrical sockets, so if you are coming from overseas you will need an adaptor. Plug adaptors may be purchased at the airport terminal or from some branch.

Will my campervan have a television?
Some campers are fitted with an LCD screen with built-in DVD player and HDMI and USB input. This is a media player only and doesn’t have access to television signal but it’s great for watching DVDs or movies from your USB.

Can I recharge my laptop in the vehicle?
Yes, however you will need to be connected to a 240V power supply and simply use a power socket in the vehicle. The driver's cab in most campers also features USB or USB-C input to plug in devices whilst driving; drawing from the 12V engine battery. Be sure not to leave devices charging when parked up or it will drain the engine battery.

Is my New Zealand campervan fitted with a bike rack?
A bike rack is available for hire on selected models, at a cost of NZ$50.00 per rental.

For travel between 1st April 2026 and 31st March 2027:
maui NZ:
a bike rack is included on all maui motorhomes

How do I empty the toilet?
Emptying the toilet cassette is very quick and easy to do. We have a 'how to' video available to watch in the thl Roadtrip App, or you can watch it here.
The toilet in your vehicle has a cartridge underneath that catches the waste. The cartridge requires a toilet chemical to break down the waste and keep it odour free. These toilet chemicals can be purchased from our branch. If you have purchased the Value Pack or the Platinum Pack, you will have three toilet chemicals provided.

We recommend you empty the toilet cassette every 1 - 2 days (at an authorised dump point) and place a new chemical inside, along with some water after emptying.  The toilet cassette is located in a lockable compartment outside the vehicle, adjacent to the bathroom.  Under the toilet cassette are wells that collect any overflow of waste.
These wells are dry and clean when you collect your vehicle from our branch. They need to also be returned this way.

There are several steps you can take to avoid any overflow of waste into these wells.
Always make sure the toilet shutter is fully open when you use your toilet.  If it is not open the waste will seep around the cassette instead of going into the cassette. The waste will then end up in the wells underneath.

Always ensure the toilet shutter is fully closed when not in use. Just the motion of driving can cause waste to spill over the top outlet. This spillage will end up in the wells below.
After emptying the toilet cassette, ensure the cassette is pushed in all the way, and then adjusted back so it sits flush behind the plastic lip and locks in. If the cassette does not line up properly with the toilet shutter, waste will end up seeping around the cassette and underneath into the wells.

Empty the toilet regularly. A full cassette will overflow through the top seals and seep around the cartridge and into the wells underneath.
When you empty the toilet, check the wells underneath for any overflow. Wash and dry wells if there is any waste in them.
If the wells under the toilet cassette are full, you will get overflow of waste coming into the bathroom floor area. This can be quite unpleasant for the hirer and our branch staff on return of the vehicle.
If you do not maintain the toilet during your hire and either the wells or cassette are returned full, you will be asked to clean/empty them or charged a $299 toilet cleaning fee.

If you would prefer that we empty the cassette for you on drop-off (selected branches):
- if you are picking up on or before 31 March 2026 consider purchasing our Cleaning Pack. With this Pack, we'll:
- take care of the 'end of hire' vehicle, cabin and bathroom cleaning (simply return the vehicle neat and tidy) and
- empty the toilet cassette and waste water tanks for you, if you are returning a camper with a toilet to Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Sydney, Melbourne or Perth.
if you are picking up on or after 1 April 2026 consider purchasing our Drop and Go Pack. With this Pack, we'll:
- take care of the 'end of hire' vehicle, cabin and bathroom cleaning (up to 1 hour), simply return the vehicle neat and tidy and
- empty the toilet cassette and waste water tanks for you, if you are returning a camper with a toilet to Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Sydney, Melbourne or Perth and
- remove bagged garbage and recycling

You can add this to your booking at any stage before drop-off. Just give us a call.

Does my campervan have a spare tyre?
Yes, all 2WD campervans, plus the Safari 4WD camper in AU, come with one spare tyre, and the tools to change it. The location of the toolkit is referenced in the show-through video for each campervan.

The Britz Maverick, Britz Warrior, Apollo Adventure Camper, Cheapa 4WD and the Mighty 4WD all feature two spare tyres.

Wi-Fi:
Do you offer Wi-Fi for my hire in New Zealand?
Unfortunately, our campers are not equipped with Wifi. However, most Holiday Parks offer free wifi to their guests so you will have access to wifi connectivity there.

Britz Electric Vehicle:
Electric Vehicle Common Questions:
What is the range for the EV?
The range (distance) of the Britz evolve is around 120kms depending on your driving style. We suggest driving smooth and cruisy – you will be amazed how much of a difference that makes.
Find out more about how to travel by EV with Britz, here - https://www.britzev.com/ev-planning/

What is the carbon footprint of an EV?
As part of our awareness of climate change and a commitment to reducing our carbon footprint, Britz sees true benefits in incorporating Electric Vehicles into our fleet. We know the Britz EV will help us to reduce our footprint and we are working to calculate exactly what this means through our carbon calculation process.
We know that the majority of NZ electricity is now being generated from renewable resources which is why driving an EV makes so much sense in New Zealand.
Find out more about how to travel by EV with Britz, here - https://www.britzev.com/ev-planning/

How much does it cost to charge an EV?
The good folk at Britz have decided to cover the cost of charging the Britz eVolve at DC Fast chargers on the road to ensure our customers have a seamless electric experience.
In general, EECA (Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority)  have calculated fuel running costs of an EV is $0.30/L, or approx. 15% of the costs of running an equivalent sized petrol vehicle. EECA is NZ’s government agency who are working to improve the energy efficiency of NZs homes and businesses. Find out more here https://www.eecabusiness.govt.nz/technologies/electric-vehicles/benefits-and-considerations/electric-vehicle-running-costs/

The cost will also depend on the type of charging system you are using and also the amount of charge required to take the battery to the desired level.

Find out more about how to travel by EV with Britz, here - https://www.britzev.com/ev-planning/

How can I find my nearest EV charging point?
There are a few apps you can use to find your nearest electric vehicle charging points in New Zealand including www.plugshare.com and GoogleMaps.
Find out more about how to travel by EV with Britz, here - https://www.britzev.com/ev-planning/

How long will it take to charge my EV:
The time it would take to charge you EV will depend on the type of charging system you are using and the current battery level.
For our Britz eVolve we estimate charging to 100% (from 0%) using a DC charger could take up to 1.5 hours, If you were using an AC charger at a holiday park on our electric itinerary this can take up to 9hrs.
